More Garden Caddies

For some reason I never get tired of painting and reinventing caddies.  They are so much fun and so popular in today's decorating scheme.  Here are three that I painted and lettered this week.

The first is my go to color which is red with simple white lettering.  This was probably a shoe shine box at one time so I kept it simple with just the word garden.

This might be my favorite.  The inspiration for the words came from a graphic I found on Graphics Fairy but a transfer wouldn't work so I just applied the lettering as I saw fit.  The white is the original chippy white paint.
This next one was already painted a sage green so I kept the lettering and the words simple.

Thanks for your visits.  Hope your weekend is wonderful.

Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint

A few weeks ago I purchased a sample packet of Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint from my friend Miss Flibbertigibbet.  The sample packet comes with several different whites and each packet will cover a small project.

For this project I decided to try the ironstone white.  I didn't use the binding agent because I wanted the paint to flake off so my caddy would look like it had aged naturally.  In the following photo you can see what one coat of the paint looks like as opposed to the wood in the middle that already has two coats of paint applied to it.
The next photo is my caddy before I applied any paint at all.

After I applied two coats of paint and left it to thoroughly dry for 24 hours, I took my paint scraper and just gently ran it across my finish.
You can see by the finished product that the paint flaked away nicely leaving me with a chippy painted finish which is exactly what I wanted.

If you would like to try Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint, contact Miss Flibbertigibbet.  She carries the complete line.  As always, thanks for visiting.

French Bakery Bin

I found this three-tiered stand last weekend at the flea market.  It was a Kendall Jackson display piece but it was in pretty rough shape.

My husband painted it red for me and then I lettered it using a bakery sign I had seen on Pinterest for inspiration.
I used a laurel wreath stencil that I recently acquired and instead of using it as a wreath, I basically used it as a parenthesis around the name of my make believe bakery.
I used the same design on the top bin of the stand to add a little extra detail.
Here is the stand as I found it.
And here it is after it's recreation.  Thanks for your visits and your comments.  They are always appreciated.

Vanity Bench Makeover

This post is sort of a part two to my post on my folding chairs.  I used the same simple stencil and did the same stripe with my masking tape.  This was the final vanity bench I found last month at the flea market.  It had white fabric that needed replacing.  I covered the bench with my last scrap of drop cloth and stenciled it with white paint.

I kept it simple, but I'm still happy with the result.  Thanks for your visit.

Folding Chair Makeover

A couple of weeks ago I found these adorable folding chairs at the flea market.  They had been left out in the rain and the fabric was badly damaged.  I stripped off the fabric and the foam underneath was in very good condition.

I cut some drop cloth to fit the seats, stenciled a laurel wreath in white and used painters tape to mark off my stripes which I did in red.  This gave them a Frenchy grain sack feel and freshened up the chairs so they are ready for their new life.
This is what the chairs looked like when I found them.  Not so attractive then, but now they are like new again.

Thanks for stopping by.
