Sailing the Danube River

I'm taking a break from my blog break to share some photos of our trip down the Danube River.  Today was not too taxing with our tour so I took the opportunity to select some photos to share.  We started or vacation in Budapest.  The city was wonderful and charming and much of the old city survived the communist regime which ended in 1989.
One of our next stops was Vienna, which is a beautiful city and very metropolitan.  It has wonderful shopping areas and I found three bookstores right next to each other.  That was the most exciting part of my day.  So many of our bookstores at home have closed which I think is so sad.  Here is a lovely flower shop on one of the squares.
There are a lot of churches and cathedrals here, each one more beautiful than the last.
We treated ourselves to lunch at the famous Hotel Sacher, and, of course, we had to taste the famous sachertorte, the chocolate cake that made them so famous.
The restaurant was beautiful and everyone is very friendly here.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our day.  The next two photos are very typical of the scenery we can see on our trip.  This is a river cruise and the view is breathtaking.

Everywhere we go the architecture is incredible and detailed.  The craftsmanship is astonishing and so well preserved.  These are the doors to a public building.
Even the ceilings are incredible.
Thanks for taking this little tour with me.  We are on day six of a 14 day trip, and it's going way too fast.
