It was already painted black, but the paint job was awful. I have never seen a dresser quite like this before although I have seen vintage dressers that have been encased in cabinets with shelves as well. This sweet little cabinet is very compact and would even be a great entertainment cabinet in a bedroom with the flat screen TV on top.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The inside needed painting because it was still oak inside. All it took to transform this gem was a little paint on the inside and a lot of sanding on the outside to bring out its character. I put some numbers on the drawers and I wish I would have used a color other than antique white for the numbers, but all in all I think it turned out all right. My photos are showing a lot of glare because of the lighting. I see a huge shadow on the inside of the door in the next photo.</span><br />

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to pick them up at yard sales for a dollar or two, but usually at the flea markets even the smaller ones are $7.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7pVnuEjfzKTXE88yC3UR9BW929r0qlbpd_O6qW4202lNQqk6DFLz4SGJhBoJG2n1Kp7gqjXhbjVVF0xhbnnrViZWVGQ7xbo8fnS1WRk8Q8UFIQGaEMLsDrw6XXNr-HLTv5SQMvb0qp5U/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7pVnuEjfzKTXE88yC3UR9BW929r0qlbpd_O6qW4202lNQqk6DFLz4SGJhBoJG2n1Kp7gqjXhbjVVF0xhbnnrViZWVGQ7xbo8fnS1WRk8Q8UFIQGaEMLsDrw6XXNr-HLTv5SQMvb0qp5U/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+1.JPG" height="400" width="295" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">So when someone told me they found some large buckets at The 99 Cent Store for $1.99, I bought a whole bunch of them. The problem was they were shiny and new looking. The size was great though at 12 inches high and 11 inches across the top. Even better was that they had handles with the wooden grip on them.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbrN6HOHoTe5EhzPh4Sv9fxXWO2oRE4DWgbQV9Jli2FWEs20409J5elzrlt59V6vjGah1CWX2hVSVWkavcTna5hOYXWm3YO0AW1t7TGT1mnFMYuhyphenhyphenJI2WmQUyscFKekEseQ0pvDGG8ChE/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbrN6HOHoTe5EhzPh4Sv9fxXWO2oRE4DWgbQV9Jli2FWEs20409J5elzrlt59V6vjGah1CWX2hVSVWkavcTna5hOYXWm3YO0AW1t7TGT1mnFMYuhyphenhyphenJI2WmQUyscFKekEseQ0pvDGG8ChE/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+2.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I looked on Pinterest for how to make new galvanized metal look old and I found a tutorial for using Lysol toilet bowl cleaner. I followed the directions which said to leave the Lysol on the metal for 30 minutes and rinse off, but at 30 minutes I found no change.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit0tc8pJGToXDguWLdcTVHzdL1u-M8cFM_UjYco6zbVFzmIVMeb7j66xos-wCGojIIdGA5OHMw8vD5auqyqK-gcYAJv9GdYgo4aa5c_10_zmYJUkgsfnqnpu9X0_djLMTKmmJH9gfS_wk/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEit0tc8pJGToXDguWLdcTVHzdL1u-M8cFM_UjYco6zbVFzmIVMeb7j66xos-wCGojIIdGA5OHMw8vD5auqyqK-gcYAJv9GdYgo4aa5c_10_zmYJUkgsfnqnpu9X0_djLMTKmmJH9gfS_wk/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+3.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here's how I aged my buckets. I scuffed them up with 100 grit sandpaper just to scratch up the shiny surface. Then I took a scrubby sponge and used the rough side to spread the Lysol all over the inside and out of the buckets. Don't forget the lip and the handle.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3sH-R1d5k36w2akblLjazRH8l3Xs0tIiKlE_kX8PlnZ7esYU-bdrBfxYkKubGalrW4Aq73l9gxx9Pm3ohx7qqtC8a7vHRXllbcJdQNWSKZhGjl6vBMfM2hNV7qr9BN2arSBptxQCAFl8/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3sH-R1d5k36w2akblLjazRH8l3Xs0tIiKlE_kX8PlnZ7esYU-bdrBfxYkKubGalrW4Aq73l9gxx9Pm3ohx7qqtC8a7vHRXllbcJdQNWSKZhGjl6vBMfM2hNV7qr9BN2arSBptxQCAFl8/s1600/blog+aged+bucket+4.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">After 30 minutes there was no change so I left them to sit. I came back over an hour later and I could see something was definitely happening so I went on about my day and after about four hours, I was getting some nice patina. The problem was there were still some shiny parts, probably where I missed a spot when wiping on the Lysol. I did not clean the buckets at this point, but rather put the Lysol on my sponge and reapplied it to the buckets inside and out. The following morning I went outside to check, and the buckets were nicely aged. At this point I put them in the utility sink and rinsed them well and dried them. If you're working outside near any landscaping, I would not recommend hosing the buckets because you could get run off that would damage the nearby plant life.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">This was an easy project that required a little more patience than I had anticipated but it was worth it.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: large;">Thanks for stopping by.</span><br />

When I found this beauty, she was washed with stark white paint. Her leg was broken and she had been left out in the elements which split and cracked her counter top.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinNCg9_TcAAHUoFYjyWZYJi9AqKZJA3KjmUFE8PI1ujJMmSYweWiFzi_xbqP2HxWQ5KhS0QZGMwXQiSjcp6G6MLb9c1hVZ_gHZJjbp6yBqQw0hBR-S8RAfnaWT8mWnnaWHhpI8BY-J6Kk/s1600/blog+farm+cabinet+7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinNCg9_TcAAHUoFYjyWZYJi9AqKZJA3KjmUFE8PI1ujJMmSYweWiFzi_xbqP2HxWQ5KhS0QZGMwXQiSjcp6G6MLb9c1hVZ_gHZJjbp6yBqQw0hBR-S8RAfnaWT8mWnnaWHhpI8BY-J6Kk/s1600/blog+farm+cabinet+7.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The first thing she needed was a good furniture surgeon to mend her broken leg. That would be my husband. He did a wonderful job and you can't even tell. She's as good as new. Her counter top got a good sanding and so did the rest of her. I painted her Old White, except the counter top. That got a coat of primer gray automotive paint and then that was rubbed down with gesso. I wanted her counter to mimic an old worn metal top. She got some pretty French drawer pulls to glam her up a bit. Her white coat was glazed with some diluted Minwax stain to give her some nice aged patina.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">On the lower doors I reverse mod podged a toile image.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ZqiflaOFYRaTSGxBhNnY0Mw8Bt2iSz8Ue-bZecEsUvpzdf7-0YID1aRnKjmEO3dYMi1Lt4aibz2cj-fBVz6NJv_qjWtPXnoqLYwYlcG0HnGenL0EsOhn88FLicBhm2xSPgOGRC5DInc/s1600/blog+farm+cabinet+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg6ZqiflaOFYRaTSGxBhNnY0Mw8Bt2iSz8Ue-bZecEsUvpzdf7-0YID1aRnKjmEO3dYMi1Lt4aibz2cj-fBVz6NJv_qjWtPXnoqLYwYlcG0HnGenL0EsOhn88FLicBhm2xSPgOGRC5DInc/s1600/blog+farm+cabinet+2.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I used a small corner stencil in each of the corners of the shelves and then used Frog Tape to join the corners and box the back section of each shelf. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPj7fupuZSjqkEkV3EcFvPZvYqzSZJEu9F9tI3m5NyopBGeKVZ6BIQhrURT6RstfPhR2ELHILO6jOl_98yt4-kvNUosDKFYSrG78GuMD-xfEdETYDklgvaPCbP7GsfejM7VuvXThojnfE/s1600/blog+farm+cabinet+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPj7fupuZSjqkEkV3EcFvPZvYqzSZJEu9F9tI3m5NyopBGeKVZ6BIQhrURT6RstfPhR2ELHILO6jOl_98yt4-kvNUosDKFYSrG78GuMD-xfEdETYDklgvaPCbP7GsfejM7VuvXThojnfE/s1600/blog+farm+cabinet+3.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Once that was done, I used some of my French stencils which I always mix and match to get the desired wording that I need to use.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;">By mixing up the stencils, you can get something really original and it adds charm to an old piece of furniture.</span><br />

She has an adorable shop called Lavender Blue and she just recently expanded her store to larger quarters. Mary has been painting with milk paint since she was in high school. Our class lasted around 3 hours and during that short period of time Mary shared so many tips and tricks that she has learned from her many years of experience.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDX9g2Pa9QJXlaHUeYav5OogXmbJAyu_rjmBwE5OZjDWsyIUjnoqUPmrC5TTSu6H3r2kLlHfmka8X_TlPGrE9gwPBL1C6H1J4MiQrr7uyjoh1Sewf9qD7ZUp3NJcdQ3CuTJoOGK7LIdf8/s1600/blog+primitive+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDX9g2Pa9QJXlaHUeYav5OogXmbJAyu_rjmBwE5OZjDWsyIUjnoqUPmrC5TTSu6H3r2kLlHfmka8X_TlPGrE9gwPBL1C6H1J4MiQrr7uyjoh1Sewf9qD7ZUp3NJcdQ3CuTJoOGK7LIdf8/s1600/blog+primitive+5.JPG" height="393" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Primitives are not for everyone, but where I live and sell, original peely paint pieces are highly sought after and coveted, and although I have tried to attain this look with every paint and special effects product on the market I have never been able to replicate an original paint finish. Until now!</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFL0fb4Dyl-rmr4LAtKm2Qrc1M85swzTYrIK4rqpWCx0hfW4sJuPmWgmzfla439wTppOcpSVFKERpApuzT9D7hSNEkuxuZUJYFZ7_2WkpvMlelvBdZIzbXgHzouS664sfMbos2Kq-Nf8/s1600/blog+primitive+6b.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFL0fb4Dyl-rmr4LAtKm2Qrc1M85swzTYrIK4rqpWCx0hfW4sJuPmWgmzfla439wTppOcpSVFKERpApuzT9D7hSNEkuxuZUJYFZ7_2WkpvMlelvBdZIzbXgHzouS664sfMbos2Kq-Nf8/s1600/blog+primitive+6b.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I can't give you all of Mary's secrets because she is writing a book, but I can tell you the tools I used, and by the way, Mary has her own line of milk paint. It's called Lavender Blue. This product really delivers. See all that glorious crackle? I didn't have to use glue or a crackle medium either.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVjy56PVQX9IqVUSrRcYf6Pp99cZvZnqjoAkDkox2NBX9kRR4fpAi77OBSED3g2RQErXy9ZEyXa-P3nMlqFxkK3brmmQ7z70dg_DYFFBgRfog4Avo7B_9wOBlhldvKmxXMt9hxihwj3s8/s1600/blog+primitive+6c.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVjy56PVQX9IqVUSrRcYf6Pp99cZvZnqjoAkDkox2NBX9kRR4fpAi77OBSED3g2RQErXy9ZEyXa-P3nMlqFxkK3brmmQ7z70dg_DYFFBgRfog4Avo7B_9wOBlhldvKmxXMt9hxihwj3s8/s1600/blog+primitive+6c.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I painted the cabinet with Calendula which is an old yellow color. Then I top coated with French Linen which is a white. I'm a mix and match kind of person, so I started with a candle stick. This is my own trick so I can share it with you. I rub my corners and any place on my piece that would receive natural wear. Then I paint my piece. When I sand those areas that are waxed, the paint falls away unevenly like it was worn that way over the years. So yes, I did rub this piece down with the candle. I did not use a binding agent either with the paint because I could get the aged finish much better without it.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoGgNA2gw2NIicWiQuhO2Y7tkOjJb6YZql2rY3_GxtYBHUv-QZLZIEEPpmndmOYBMfw0Z-eJ-BQOaFLzWPbqG78Z2ybbq4KnNI8Ir_bRYrcfWT9fxPFhn2hoBe9DMMEgIsOW8mJzvV0rQ/s1600/blog+primitive+6d.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoGgNA2gw2NIicWiQuhO2Y7tkOjJb6YZql2rY3_GxtYBHUv-QZLZIEEPpmndmOYBMfw0Z-eJ-BQOaFLzWPbqG78Z2ybbq4KnNI8Ir_bRYrcfWT9fxPFhn2hoBe9DMMEgIsOW8mJzvV0rQ/s1600/blog+primitive+6d.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I used a heat gun to dry the paint and I worked in small sections. I painted a side and then dried it with my heat gun. Then I went to the other side. Then I did a door and then the other door. Working in small sections helped me concentrate until I reached the desired aged look I was going for. I also rubbed a little Annie Sloan clear wax here and there. I'm not sure it's compatible with the milk paint because it is an oilier wax so next time I will stick with the Lavender Blue wax. This all sounds like it took me forever, but the cabinet was done start to finish in around two hours.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN1wrhvnTgPbcWeB9_uuakMBQUxhtQzeXYkIllxrGuLUtMglARrtMUsn78tu9vF5ioSQ02sogN6FxY1NcZi3XEPX5YrlZbNDQSxqOFkyB7m9YeLs1kxv4zdPlV_PNPhGypzMLZ3VDBP_o/s1600/blog+primitive+6e.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN1wrhvnTgPbcWeB9_uuakMBQUxhtQzeXYkIllxrGuLUtMglARrtMUsn78tu9vF5ioSQ02sogN6FxY1NcZi3XEPX5YrlZbNDQSxqOFkyB7m9YeLs1kxv4zdPlV_PNPhGypzMLZ3VDBP_o/s1600/blog+primitive+6e.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">When all the painting was completed and dried, I scraped it with a paint scraper to get any flaking that occurred with the heat gun. Then I gave it a rub down with a wet cloth. The wet cloth helped expose the Calendula that was hiding under the French Linen color. Milk paint will wash right off if it's not sealed with a sealer such as wax or hemp oil. Next I took a fine grit sanding block and just sanded enough to knock off any more loose paint and to gain a little more patina.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4bB0V0U-0ZLxCkIKyIAInJxWwu5HQadQsoUYJhtaJaPXlvilfcRil-WOMryU83uKUE3NbWVdaEp1c8y9CLr-3k2iSMxIMk9wSrhaO7DV2wLhHzw0KlwNuLMGgSUT3hRisAv2r0ENRWps/s1600/blog+primitive+6f.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4bB0V0U-0ZLxCkIKyIAInJxWwu5HQadQsoUYJhtaJaPXlvilfcRil-WOMryU83uKUE3NbWVdaEp1c8y9CLr-3k2iSMxIMk9wSrhaO7DV2wLhHzw0KlwNuLMGgSUT3hRisAv2r0ENRWps/s1600/blog+primitive+6f.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">When all of this was completed, I rubbed it down with a light coat of clear wax mixed with a little dark wax. Mary's wax is more like a thick hand cream and, therefore, it is much easier to manipulate into the crevices than a harder wax. This look isn't for everyone, but if you love aged patina like I do and many of our customers do, then I strongly suggest you give milk paint a try. Below is the before picture. Milk paint gave this cabinet an amazing transformation and so did Mary's wonderful class.</span><br />

Unlike my faux etched windows, this is the real deal. I spotted it on a dealer's truck before it was unloaded and could only see the top portion of it. It was love at first sight. I bought it on the spot. </span><br />

So while I'm waiting to find the stuff I really love, I'm reinventing some of these newer items to fit my style better.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqrUhVFMxCxWxmnmpVUlyW8gZVWjTtjuylE_5chmwixX4V7IZ_ZNVVPUQHyFoglM_gC4zIMw9js8DuwvMWQMoM8GbB_pdSBrZIcVILx2iKfUtrhR71k0Llx-RC2dmcwId5gOfmvJtUJiA/s1600/blog+tv+stand+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqrUhVFMxCxWxmnmpVUlyW8gZVWjTtjuylE_5chmwixX4V7IZ_ZNVVPUQHyFoglM_gC4zIMw9js8DuwvMWQMoM8GbB_pdSBrZIcVILx2iKfUtrhR71k0Llx-RC2dmcwId5gOfmvJtUJiA/s1600/blog+tv+stand+1.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This is a great TV stand, console, cabinet, whatever you want to call it. It's two-tiered, has some great storage space and overall it had great lines and detailing, but with the finish it had on it, it had a contemporary vibe, almost Asian. <span style="font-size: large;">This is a very functional piece, but let's face it, it's not high end and it's not heirloom quality so I didn't spend a fortune on expensive designer paints that are so popular these days. It got a good sanding since it had a very high gloss finish, then two coats of latex paint in a warm white tone. The surfaces were painted a medium shade of gray just to give it a little more personality.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjTTXW62yS9Xrm9sp4BS4HLDicrx3VMriYERk8JIUTY8WMhvGAnJUeuqXgFEroXwE2RajSnPj2XKPhk9NANuciMlb6lK9q6F7861QRt-w-JJxPNdybpQ7DdL80OAvyhP5lQkZW8zgBF98/s1600/blog+tv+stand+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjTTXW62yS9Xrm9sp4BS4HLDicrx3VMriYERk8JIUTY8WMhvGAnJUeuqXgFEroXwE2RajSnPj2XKPhk9NANuciMlb6lK9q6F7861QRt-w-JJxPNdybpQ7DdL80OAvyhP5lQkZW8zgBF98/s1600/blog+tv+stand+2.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Then to give it a more farm house feel, I shabbied it back just a bit to give it a more worn appearance.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS8B5IbBp-LRJ3Sa3xkRJWBUC0AXNZx5K6pwYXAZVM4J9TRRrHQ0LI-y0Zn0uKvwLY4lu_vVVYNgYsJwHXNusNvcPJrj19jLlYg1oykzb8ojUS_yaazoGd9hLVJ-dxYhyAtl6V5sg96xk/s1600/blog+tv+stand+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS8B5IbBp-LRJ3Sa3xkRJWBUC0AXNZx5K6pwYXAZVM4J9TRRrHQ0LI-y0Zn0uKvwLY4lu_vVVYNgYsJwHXNusNvcPJrj19jLlYg1oykzb8ojUS_yaazoGd9hLVJ-dxYhyAtl6V5sg96xk/s1600/blog+tv+stand+4.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Once that step was done, I rubbed a bit of Minwax stain diluted with mineral spirits. I didn't want to muddy the finish, I just wanted to give a little depth to the imperfections. When it was all completed, I sprayed it with a clear coat to seal in the stain.</span><br />

They are very simple to do and although there's a lot of photos in this post, it's a quick and simple process so stay with me. You will need Martha Stewart's Frost Etching cream available at Michael's and Joanne's. You will also need a stencil of your choice, a mixing bowl - my mixing bowl is about a half cup custard cup - acrylic paint and a stencil brush. Of course, you will need a window. I get mine at the salvage yards.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-cjpilunHYa0WBeTe4eKV9MY9CctQXosmb0FrYep-r0u8hk1XvmPs7WIcLB29L4r9eU-_YJpsioqitsYkPxvIs-qojHev3sL-ifhCHiZCJSsIh-Hp0D86PJip980Vkht4jt-fH2IYZhg/s1600/blog+etched+window+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-cjpilunHYa0WBeTe4eKV9MY9CctQXosmb0FrYep-r0u8hk1XvmPs7WIcLB29L4r9eU-_YJpsioqitsYkPxvIs-qojHev3sL-ifhCHiZCJSsIh-Hp0D86PJip980Vkht4jt-fH2IYZhg/s1600/blog+etched+window+2.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I use approximately a dollop of the frost etching cream and about half as much of my acrylic paint. That's it. Mix it together.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsSu7OxvwFiurrVzYbFNwWJVirBueprUXThsX7-Zn3TxckoO4FBWpq44wiqu1hwyVHvHAyEcFUaVvv7OoWjTF508C-U9dFloe_YjOFSL57Jh2is39ZY1w3nSCkMVuZPI5OOjskNAaCmy4/s1600/blog+etched+window+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsSu7OxvwFiurrVzYbFNwWJVirBueprUXThsX7-Zn3TxckoO4FBWpq44wiqu1hwyVHvHAyEcFUaVvv7OoWjTF508C-U9dFloe_YjOFSL57Jh2is39ZY1w3nSCkMVuZPI5OOjskNAaCmy4/s1600/blog+etched+window+3.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Clean your window on both sides and work from the back side of your window. Once this product dries, you can clean it with windex and a paper towel but do so gently. Since the front of the window does not have the design on it, that can be cleaned normally.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsFvslhNQbTPjfeIajw6bcoE-nlLZ_XXDZqN6_O6XL1BXtJ70_rYheNJbZJzY8FCuz69GdbM-_Ex5Id7L_jceSv3aWHLXlwC_uS_EdpmyvDsBhuVlYJGUVSyfQCgOLtdbRpWQpQtVrjIw/s1600/blog+etched+window+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsFvslhNQbTPjfeIajw6bcoE-nlLZ_XXDZqN6_O6XL1BXtJ70_rYheNJbZJzY8FCuz69GdbM-_Ex5Id7L_jceSv3aWHLXlwC_uS_EdpmyvDsBhuVlYJGUVSyfQCgOLtdbRpWQpQtVrjIw/s1600/blog+etched+window+4.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Your stencil will be turned over because you are working from the back side of the window. Tape your stencil in place.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7zw2BSdEOj_ykylJez2znVzHKqdpRQ2isPL1R-D5MQIqGEkwq-x3qCML2RIq7Lm_1SYuHgQaBaDZU8nEw1xz_AkmHdMnJeCqc3YBmfQCTp-KiXLNnVS_vugSggkRkrp0OvfF-T56VLy4/s1600/blog+etched+window+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7zw2BSdEOj_ykylJez2znVzHKqdpRQ2isPL1R-D5MQIqGEkwq-x3qCML2RIq7Lm_1SYuHgQaBaDZU8nEw1xz_AkmHdMnJeCqc3YBmfQCTp-KiXLNnVS_vugSggkRkrp0OvfF-T56VLy4/s1600/blog+etched+window+5.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I keep a paper towel handy so when I dip the stencil brush in the paint medium I can dab it off so I don't get too much paint on my brush that could run under my stencil. It's the same principal as when you're working on walls or wood. Now just dab the paint on your stencil.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgSYqA431ZgFkCCa8Gso2rSDfylLSCRETvAfEOMED_JLhyo6roEgXDXXCSdBSdTaDeuPO2QFbNUeiUVOdGyzKgimtJUNR_nJ3BxTDd9a3vMsBhJFHY5vfImcroU79ohXdORpXKLOpxXRM/s1600/blog+etched+window+6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgSYqA431ZgFkCCa8Gso2rSDfylLSCRETvAfEOMED_JLhyo6roEgXDXXCSdBSdTaDeuPO2QFbNUeiUVOdGyzKgimtJUNR_nJ3BxTDd9a3vMsBhJFHY5vfImcroU79ohXdORpXKLOpxXRM/s1600/blog+etched+window+6.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Make sure you cover all the lettering on your stencil image.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyvtMib2PA6TYR61gKBHs15C9IySPmjf_k9QFXMd3TxRqoPKprxNRCyCVqJeNSjloFNtHQX_Xn4UK05m9XN-CdEDDdfJFSBAs3E6GAvJmHFxoISMFgCCYbKIDXktrdixVLv3h-73VuzR8/s1600/blog+etched+window+7.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyvtMib2PA6TYR61gKBHs15C9IySPmjf_k9QFXMd3TxRqoPKprxNRCyCVqJeNSjloFNtHQX_Xn4UK05m9XN-CdEDDdfJFSBAs3E6GAvJmHFxoISMFgCCYbKIDXktrdixVLv3h-73VuzR8/s1600/blog+etched+window+7.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Now rinse off your stencil in the sink so that the frosted etching cream doesn't dry on the stencil. It's easy to get off if it's not totally dried.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdESR9Sy4r3hzwf0aPnfBpWVC3fov1XqwXJ4lBH0iEZUzrAzZkA1St4OB4LFZEJJy6pDTX0WeC-vLuvZNowPIfi_7iNGSLCOQP7IsIRD71QEAy29tRT2nRXBuwcPcJd-3L0_f4zcfvYC0/s1600/blog+etched+window+8.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdESR9Sy4r3hzwf0aPnfBpWVC3fov1XqwXJ4lBH0iEZUzrAzZkA1St4OB4LFZEJJy6pDTX0WeC-vLuvZNowPIfi_7iNGSLCOQP7IsIRD71QEAy29tRT2nRXBuwcPcJd-3L0_f4zcfvYC0/s1600/blog+etched+window+8.JPG" height="331" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">For this window my stencil wasn't quite big enough to fill my window space so I needed to come back and do my corners with a second design. Put your extra paint mixture into a zippy bag for about 20 minutes while the window dries enough to lay another stencil on the window.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">Here is what I had left of my mixture after doing a whole window. It doesn't take much.</span><br />

Both of the sides fold in and then the ends fold in to make the whole thing lie flat for easy storage.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDAvn_NtCoG4SKU_GrAVPRTTfkgUKfvLzd5bHEgQ42NvxbiRrSd2COL-i1I1-38G3zbVr_xfrZ_H0sRrNJDUM95B0JEnGvtubaL4wuJakyhyciiXvzZ9FZfW804ztzmYiMdk0sRPFdY7o/s1600/blog+child's%2Bbed%2B1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDAvn_NtCoG4SKU_GrAVPRTTfkgUKfvLzd5bHEgQ42NvxbiRrSd2COL-i1I1-38G3zbVr_xfrZ_H0sRrNJDUM95B0JEnGvtubaL4wuJakyhyciiXvzZ9FZfW804ztzmYiMdk0sRPFdY7o/s1600/blog+child's%2Bbed%2B1.JPG" height="400" width="370" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I love all the rustic patina. This would be great as a day bed, a garden ornament or a planter. It's full of vintage goodness.</span><br />

So when my daughter sent me a picture of one that she liked, I decided we needed to make one for my grandson for Christmas. I found a small step stool at the warehouse where I sell. It was just a plain green color, but it was the perfect size.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhGhmPHJhomd0f-ueNtza0lEZXTfvT1fcvGJOQjH5hLEFk8IAaOF1G2SCF-X4S5fepPb1bPJn6Ztmu25GuMArzVtBYR4mN1tWsHnripZaD62yDZJqq5w1dnSB80cFiVy2T993MJKYeHJ8/s1600/blog+step+stool+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhGhmPHJhomd0f-ueNtza0lEZXTfvT1fcvGJOQjH5hLEFk8IAaOF1G2SCF-X4S5fepPb1bPJn6Ztmu25GuMArzVtBYR4mN1tWsHnripZaD62yDZJqq5w1dnSB80cFiVy2T993MJKYeHJ8/s1600/blog+step+stool+1.JPG" height="356" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Being the collector that I am, of course I had a pile of old yard sticks that I had been saving for just such an occasion. Our grandson is 18 months old and he likes to be taller so he can see what's going on in the kitchen.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">I painted this little cutie red and picked out my brightest vintage rulers. Then my husband did all the brain work, measuring and cutting.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYomieZA0_8e99tUEO6lEp-aLtj5QQkmglWcApeQw_0wI-QbkjSxE6CJRmb2a_Ip6zD_lBi5ij_MzJnKQ5y2Et-SJ-_JTnVdzSCpNHilGuVacxMXiCiT80rEh1L1FYxNzOLdpPgCcMWD8/s1600/blog+step+stool+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYomieZA0_8e99tUEO6lEp-aLtj5QQkmglWcApeQw_0wI-QbkjSxE6CJRmb2a_Ip6zD_lBi5ij_MzJnKQ5y2Et-SJ-_JTnVdzSCpNHilGuVacxMXiCiT80rEh1L1FYxNzOLdpPgCcMWD8/s1600/blog+step+stool+3.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">This was the perfect size for Carter. He used it to get up to the Christmas ornaments on the tree so he could see them up close and personal (made it easier for him to undress the tree) and he also could carry it all over whenever he wanted to get something that he couldn't reach.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">Here's the proof. He got into Nana's See's truffles. I don't share these with anyone, but Carter is kinda special.</span><br />

It's so petite that I can carry it under one arm. It's definitely old too. Someone's social security number was etched in the back with a date that read circa 1920. The clock was wood, but not a pretty kind of wood, probably from years of grime and wear. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">My husband came to the rescue with a couple coats of white paint. I sanded her back a tiny bit to give her some character. She still has a beautiful face. Someone had replaced her mechanism with a battery operated one and it kept perfect time for the two weeks I had her.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">After being photographed, she was whisked off to the Little French Flea Market warehouse where I sell some of my things and she was snatched up in a heartbeat.</span><br />

It's not old at all. I liked the size, but the drawers were wood grained and the rest was black. I found this new toile image I wanted to try out and this seemed like the perfect piece to try it on. I learned a lesson on this piece. The finish was extremely slick and although I sanded it down and give it a coat of chalk paint, the finish was still too slippery and when I went to do my reverse mod podge transfer that I usually do, the image pretty much slid off. This was a first for me. So I simply decopaged the image on in the normal way. I like doing the reverse mod podge better because I get more of a hand painted feel.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I found several rolls of wallpaper border at a garage sale that had this wonderful French style relief on it. The size was perfect for these petite dresser drawers. I followed the directions on the package by wetting the wallpaper border and applying them to the fronts of the drawers but I found the paper lifting. I'm convinced the original finish on the drawer fronts was too slippery as well. Tacky glue came to my rescue and the paper is very secure now. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx7e4_bFyQqHF8nC86qCAPpvqwn6EQr1a07Dn-LIsh4B5LBm1fFxt2fgBIAZU5AbvxCOnFCs-V32R20Z0CtoeM5yE3UtlAfd-DXQ_nIx47ux8s9AyZs6QqzqnH6gfXgSAH3_-FqRpmbVU/s1600/blog+lingerie+chest+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx7e4_bFyQqHF8nC86qCAPpvqwn6EQr1a07Dn-LIsh4B5LBm1fFxt2fgBIAZU5AbvxCOnFCs-V32R20Z0CtoeM5yE3UtlAfd-DXQ_nIx47ux8s9AyZs6QqzqnH6gfXgSAH3_-FqRpmbVU/s1600/blog+lingerie+chest+1.JPG" height="400" width="342" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I painted over the paper which is what the directions called for as well and it blends beautifully with the rest of the piece.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIZ_U4TWmIrNAuod9sZt0mo2umhMQ_BCWA25j_azzX5Hmv8Cpyp5IB740nOs3V_uYz3pHKXHwNW-G9SRZ2vtS6xBWvcgASqpvah7iEPDFyCrMFj6ChCza3XiK6Mw-xHngt4nDQMkGTH5g/s1600/blog+lingerie+chest+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIZ_U4TWmIrNAuod9sZt0mo2umhMQ_BCWA25j_azzX5Hmv8Cpyp5IB740nOs3V_uYz3pHKXHwNW-G9SRZ2vtS6xBWvcgASqpvah7iEPDFyCrMFj6ChCza3XiK6Mw-xHngt4nDQMkGTH5g/s1600/blog+lingerie+chest+4.JPG" height="400" width="317" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">I did a little sanding to distress the piece when it was done. The original color was black and in case any of my paint chips off it will just blend with the already distressed finish. The hardware also got painted to tie in with the look.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">Here is the piece as I found it. I took the first drawer out and started painting and then remembered I needed to take a before photo.</span><br />

Our youngest daughter bought a place of her own which meant decorating and shopping to get her settled. I'll be doing a blog post on her cute little townhouse very soon. Her moving out meant that the room she inhabited for a very long long time needed a desperate redo. This also took up a big part of the end of my year, but finally I am ready to share the results.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">Her room was a generic white which she liked, but I was ready for some subtle color. I chose a greige color from Dunn Edwards for the walls. The bedding was stock bedding from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Everything needed to be washable and pretty well indestructible as we know our grandson will be using this room when he visits. However, I didn't want to do a child's room because he is only here around three times a year.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">The closet doors are floor to ceiling and 12 feet across. We replaced the cracked mirrored doors with paneled doors to blend with the rest of the house.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I found these two Home Goods style side tables at the flea market. They don't match, but I like it better that way. The pair came to $60. I couldn't pass them up.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: large;">They were perfect for the room. The lamps came from Home Goods. Nothing fancy about them, but I like that they are plain and tailored.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">This pillow was a find at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It's perfect for this guest retreat. In looking at this photo, I just noticed the pillow shams behind my dreamer pillow are different. I find that rather odd, but I like it just the same.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I found this Hotel de Paris sign at the flea market, and these great photographs of old Paris hotels look like they are matted,but they are not. They hang between two pieces of clear glass and the wall behind shows through.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">This sweet little chair came from a yard sale. I've had it for years and finally had it recovered with plain drop cloth fabric. The script pillow is the finishing touch.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">This is our daughter's Ikea bed that she left behind. It was pine and I wanted to add more pizazz to the room with the black accents. My husband wasn't crazy about having painted furniture in the house but now I think he likes how clean and fresh the room is.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I am kind of making this room a reminder of last year's fabulous trip to France that I took with my girlfriend. She knew I was doing this room in black and white so she made me this wreath for Christmas as a reminder of our incredible vacation. Isn't it darling? I'm going to hang an antique French mirror above the chair and have this swagging the front of it. </span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">I would love to tell you this was an old door I salvaged from a fabulous flea market or salvage yard but this door is circa 1994. The best I can do is call it "vintage Ikea."</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPDIeQ2LstH2DyiHLdf73EPpK0H5IalS4Z0LxBaoiHJvDHyeqwn5H9CwTX-C73statre07l9_SSoRq2wz57LzqrXGSXIyxnq29ugTS0f94sl9SpUhGvJjkzFLaQ06s49akBxgtT1UmUDU/s1600/blog+door+6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPDIeQ2LstH2DyiHLdf73EPpK0H5IalS4Z0LxBaoiHJvDHyeqwn5H9CwTX-C73statre07l9_SSoRq2wz57LzqrXGSXIyxnq29ugTS0f94sl9SpUhGvJjkzFLaQ06s49akBxgtT1UmUDU/s1600/blog+door+6.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">After the Northridge earthquake when we repaired our house and did a little updating, my girls wanted Ikea furniture. That was many moons ago and our youngest finally purchased her own place this year. Did she take Ikea with her? Heck no. Coming up soon you will see another post about other things we did with her "vintage Ikea" furniture.</span><br />

<span style="font-size: large;">We demolished the TV cabinet which was ready to fall down on its own and my husband was able to save this door for me. There were actually two, but he insisted the other one was too badly damaged to use for anything. I wish he would have let me be the judge of that.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSL9eU-U8OUmNzdbiQW6ZSuwfp6HyBRNteHsk4ZWSngAL-llFFIwK3AAfPyDVQzaLa4RFjYj-VGtFVB74YGbFbHk4Qs8R-t1zkt6KXfLwSKCpaR9Um_46lrePYo6mtMiuLsjA5Jiroefk/s1600/blog+door+1a.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSL9eU-U8OUmNzdbiQW6ZSuwfp6HyBRNteHsk4ZWSngAL-llFFIwK3AAfPyDVQzaLa4RFjYj-VGtFVB74YGbFbHk4Qs8R-t1zkt6KXfLwSKCpaR9Um_46lrePYo6mtMiuLsjA5Jiroefk/s1600/blog+door+1a.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The pine door got painted a generic creamy white. I added my raised plaster stencil technique which you can see <a href="http://littlemissmaggie1.blogspot.com/2013/05/raised-plaster-stencil.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I also added some joint compound here and there on the door to give it a roughed up look and also to get my washy paint to give the door an aged look.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ehAHAU-ZHIZaqoNBk13l2vq0Wo0ppTJBAn5RhJMm_VvmQqDrUD2WU0WqdYOHC-avsN2-qDWcH54FFQXUwVTMhp8g0HfcvFJvMopPJ1nCdZa-9IRp5w2jWDn_okBTY3T9NA9fYA8_cuE/s1600/blog+door+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7ehAHAU-ZHIZaqoNBk13l2vq0Wo0ppTJBAn5RhJMm_VvmQqDrUD2WU0WqdYOHC-avsN2-qDWcH54FFQXUwVTMhp8g0HfcvFJvMopPJ1nCdZa-9IRp5w2jWDn_okBTY3T9NA9fYA8_cuE/s1600/blog+door+2.JPG" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">The door got a heavy sanding and a healthy wash of dark brown paint, probably raw umber or burnt umber. Whichever one is darkest brown. Just a wash was all it took to get in the crevices.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhplyTmfzuW56B9RwnZNTeOXnK7m539g35EKUjtpT5LitCFL1V-CAjHPzz7GMbcY-VPuHDYVHwTpQlRPmJIwdLTj17VY_LXx-HIFZpBaNhdpShPCKEZR1-jC4zkgIV3yLp5Gc_uXn8MT7s/s1600/blog+door+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhplyTmfzuW56B9RwnZNTeOXnK7m539g35EKUjtpT5LitCFL1V-CAjHPzz7GMbcY-VPuHDYVHwTpQlRPmJIwdLTj17VY_LXx-HIFZpBaNhdpShPCKEZR1-jC4zkgIV3yLp5Gc_uXn8MT7s/s1600/blog+door+3.JPG" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Next I added a little stenciling and a chalkboard finish to the top panel. I love the way it came out. I did manage to find another tall pantry door at the salvage yard this week and I plan to do the same treatment on it.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS8T1sUxVTxBJm4KbozS9igVk6bqOzt0kptUPH-fuRPXqRTv791g-TN3Jvc9K5LQwnjR8LkRV0s8YPFkboN0_s5Tjidv1vgoA-tJxQ9Qhevom76jk6FqDkNAQ-3spzS1rW7ViaYUTSIxs/s1600/blog+door+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiS8T1sUxVTxBJm4KbozS9igVk6bqOzt0kptUPH-fuRPXqRTv791g-TN3Jvc9K5LQwnjR8LkRV0s8YPFkboN0_s5Tjidv1vgoA-tJxQ9Qhevom76jk6FqDkNAQ-3spzS1rW7ViaYUTSIxs/s1600/blog+door+5.JPG" height="320" width="155" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: large;">Here is the door with just the white paint and the raised plaster stencil before I did all the aging of it.</span><br />

Whenever I do a piece like this, it sells very fast so I usually have one as a back up waiting to bring in. This dresser had kind of a retro vibe so it was perfect for this finish.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5r20Ppx-FxgJYTxH7FSBB0NyBVSZQo6w8MRS2WASydIQCZW9qIl3TzlU0a3Hqmu6DbXqYitvaAjHE0pIB04wWcVfQWufzBNVgqlJZLW10gbSTIFPiS6tOUBxYJad2w8oZjN-vLQUfgRs/s1600/blog+retro+dresser+1a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5r20Ppx-FxgJYTxH7FSBB0NyBVSZQo6w8MRS2WASydIQCZW9qIl3TzlU0a3Hqmu6DbXqYitvaAjHE0pIB04wWcVfQWufzBNVgqlJZLW10gbSTIFPiS6tOUBxYJad2w8oZjN-vLQUfgRs/s400/blog+retro+dresser+1a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">To achieve this look, I use Annie Sloan's Old Ocher. It's a dirty grayish white and it complements the gray paint I use on the trim.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu1fkKgjAgzCK4N9Cv7Jo5MRoMC1YsoaokUyjInRDPL_qzp5rw4Ll0_Q2iSJt9xIWvYrIzEwb4J3sMgv1EXfPr-TAnXvYfSKLPR1TLL8_hv4MmW7HexsOMQHrtACcfLSWKUCPZ_TAWsp0/s1600/blog+retro+dresser+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu1fkKgjAgzCK4N9Cv7Jo5MRoMC1YsoaokUyjInRDPL_qzp5rw4Ll0_Q2iSJt9xIWvYrIzEwb4J3sMgv1EXfPr-TAnXvYfSKLPR1TLL8_hv4MmW7HexsOMQHrtACcfLSWKUCPZ_TAWsp0/s400/blog+retro+dresser+1.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Once the piece is painted, I go over the borders of the drawers and the edges around the top and whatever detail a piece has with a very dark gray. Then I go over the gray with an antique brass paint. Modern Master's is my favorite. It has an old goldish tone to it.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-3gUbZqGaDBikGCMTzGfMTcAzDk_Dvf-_CC1xAvER9USfLJ7i6KH0zlZ_a2JhJKg-8PvmVWthJ4xNJz-NbDeukN6tnFH6U71OfMcVR0cu8Att09U0LPP1T1VLNcbRJP4sQauE-jyKC2g/s1600/blog+retro+dresser+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-3gUbZqGaDBikGCMTzGfMTcAzDk_Dvf-_CC1xAvER9USfLJ7i6KH0zlZ_a2JhJKg-8PvmVWthJ4xNJz-NbDeukN6tnFH6U71OfMcVR0cu8Att09U0LPP1T1VLNcbRJP4sQauE-jyKC2g/s400/blog+retro+dresser+2.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Then I give the piece a heavy duty sanding to expose the layers of the paint. I almost always leave my hardware in the original gold tone finish, especially if it is aged and has great patina.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I apply this old world cherub image and add some French words from my collection of stencils. If you don't have stencils, print the words on your computer and trace them onto your piece. The image can be decoupaged or reverse mod podged, whatever your preference.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhdJyTK84-jmGxjdgjzC9taY5KxwVIJBQV1eopKQNfc94xUccu9kH-vWcuU_gDTw_iAwX9oBU-rVvaVg5ii4tzDkbldbJceDWG4e6mT1eXE2sXoY6eHyFCxMy7Kc_KtazCJSXzwUiUOaQ/s1600/blog+retro+dresser+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhdJyTK84-jmGxjdgjzC9taY5KxwVIJBQV1eopKQNfc94xUccu9kH-vWcuU_gDTw_iAwX9oBU-rVvaVg5ii4tzDkbldbJceDWG4e6mT1eXE2sXoY6eHyFCxMy7Kc_KtazCJSXzwUiUOaQ/s400/blog+retro+dresser+4.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;">It's okay if your lettering is not perfect. Give it a good sanding and enjoy the vintage Paris Apartment feel that this finish exudes.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoszEcVw8CHZmHxr3Ep7M5FrKxBfi3gWH109uWf8a3g0iSYTKq0eb0uc_Y5WW9-EaQNrQW2Sbzy3_K5VCqWHBzsm9a2S-mlpuGhWUht5aUOPaEMTk_5DTcmhlz2hmkf8KFKwF_FwwT2r4/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoszEcVw8CHZmHxr3Ep7M5FrKxBfi3gWH109uWf8a3g0iSYTKq0eb0uc_Y5WW9-EaQNrQW2Sbzy3_K5VCqWHBzsm9a2S-mlpuGhWUht5aUOPaEMTk_5DTcmhlz2hmkf8KFKwF_FwwT2r4/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+1.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I had some small pieces of peg board that I was saving to paint some signs on and they were the perfect size. I painted the board white and applied my image. Since the board had a funny texture, it was a little rougher than usual where the mod podge had been applied. I wanted a very vintage look to the sign so that was okay with me.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjElxctgtRoaLk1YJK6tKP_MaktATKScxFI7wTVonDIJy4Zpk93URZEeItQvmlH4CRfAvUDxUtnVIh9VPYkO7K1BBUSWcH-CJnhYw2NuosvRGtuVVFExKvYYtPwMUAkJkBTHpbdFfuyas/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjElxctgtRoaLk1YJK6tKP_MaktATKScxFI7wTVonDIJy4Zpk93URZEeItQvmlH4CRfAvUDxUtnVIh9VPYkO7K1BBUSWcH-CJnhYw2NuosvRGtuVVFExKvYYtPwMUAkJkBTHpbdFfuyas/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+2.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I used tan and light grey and layered the whole board with several layers of washes. I also used some stencils and applied some designs with my joint compound to make a 3-D effect.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtAGkReREiZSU-5xyReQYujAttmhl7GgfWlcGHp1pU_FdoTClIXq7ypa_SFC5FVa42aSLH22KT56s8M23H2Poiu1NV6t43BCzduv6ISCgJxNHqTf70YTpoG1xywDoxddo0lUmajUevJNM/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtAGkReREiZSU-5xyReQYujAttmhl7GgfWlcGHp1pU_FdoTClIXq7ypa_SFC5FVa42aSLH22KT56s8M23H2Poiu1NV6t43BCzduv6ISCgJxNHqTf70YTpoG1xywDoxddo0lUmajUevJNM/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+3.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I stenciled the word France on the very bottom and applied one of my small metal roses to the top.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5T80jUsf04ar9K5sHLsNvnXAeEfez36kmkkNSYuJwo5_KpvHjSp3TwyW0BANLmLw1uOViSWeJwE6NfM-oiF58UPy0ATnkq0RZVxDJ-JvwKEHRVTcn6OdkvbB0ffS3x3xmDINZMYVDbMs/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5T80jUsf04ar9K5sHLsNvnXAeEfez36kmkkNSYuJwo5_KpvHjSp3TwyW0BANLmLw1uOViSWeJwE6NfM-oiF58UPy0ATnkq0RZVxDJ-JvwKEHRVTcn6OdkvbB0ffS3x3xmDINZMYVDbMs/s1600/blog+remembrance+of+paris+4.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Finally I waxed the whole board. It's the perfect size and is a nice souvenir to help me remember my fabulous vacation.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Thanks for your visit.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP4z1gteUiDGyOrMw79i58l31l84iai8IvovB8X7qZ7r6heBmKskgSVZVEW82v9vTneUmJ9_mheJzjoA2V_tfzlwJMXNq-gCM9WDsXmq_u0gF0F7oWd2fwu9N61DTIo2m3T50E2XyPkMg/s1600/blog+choclolate+desk+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhP4z1gteUiDGyOrMw79i58l31l84iai8IvovB8X7qZ7r6heBmKskgSVZVEW82v9vTneUmJ9_mheJzjoA2V_tfzlwJMXNq-gCM9WDsXmq_u0gF0F7oWd2fwu9N61DTIo2m3T50E2XyPkMg/s1600/blog+choclolate+desk+1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">This first desk is a very small drop leaf desk. I thought it would be great in a kitchen or any small nook would be perfect. I painted it white and then applied my images using the reverse mod podge method for transfer.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiTvNgO_Ery2heIUUYntW1t4C2uGErjA9pNdA0RdCPXjtEs9tKulY4tIWcxcgf0uePLof3sfXBiJWmIHgPqfe6KrEGLd5W478bEo32MPvSzmDwKAu1HMIdWSXwsiZ2Y6cCPYpb2HdKNhg/s1600/blog+chocolate+desk+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiTvNgO_Ery2heIUUYntW1t4C2uGErjA9pNdA0RdCPXjtEs9tKulY4tIWcxcgf0uePLof3sfXBiJWmIHgPqfe6KrEGLd5W478bEo32MPvSzmDwKAu1HMIdWSXwsiZ2Y6cCPYpb2HdKNhg/s1600/blog+chocolate+desk+2.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I used various pastry shop images I have purchased on Etsy. These images always appeal to me for some reason. Maybe it's my sweet tooth.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh4ez1bmFrT78KFdFry5hEGmVK2k7DQdcvgLL4GOmxk9gj_51kD8plkzTgDDwmQtwW3F4Kjro7We680KENjujEBhzCWrkMcaQLL9BJAJaRCiFxtU5gqONXT9d08Us0YSBwsElEdqAo2vk/s1600/blog+chocolate++desk+3a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh4ez1bmFrT78KFdFry5hEGmVK2k7DQdcvgLL4GOmxk9gj_51kD8plkzTgDDwmQtwW3F4Kjro7We680KENjujEBhzCWrkMcaQLL9BJAJaRCiFxtU5gqONXT9d08Us0YSBwsElEdqAo2vk/s1600/blog+chocolate++desk+3a.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">This desk sold the first day of the market. Below is the before photo. It was just an unfinished pine piece that was in desperate need of reinventing.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihU2BPBgCvrHKitaevBqLOI2DFUt1DRPxSMOu7Q0s115HLOXZtnV8oo_LvX45bcgObqNB5LIjV0t2ZUIQKqT2EMivt6TFxu3sq3HzT_ziGCFT5GRJOV44hzvzXT6G8JEDjNEIxONYbCF0/s1600/blog+chocolate+desk+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihU2BPBgCvrHKitaevBqLOI2DFUt1DRPxSMOu7Q0s115HLOXZtnV8oo_LvX45bcgObqNB5LIjV0t2ZUIQKqT2EMivt6TFxu3sq3HzT_ziGCFT5GRJOV44hzvzXT6G8JEDjNEIxONYbCF0/s1600/blog+chocolate+desk+3.JPG" height="320" width="214" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Here is a second desk that was the first thing to go. Unfortunately by the time I got around to photographing it, I was getting the afternoon shadows. I always shy away from these desks, but it's so hard to find inexpensive pieces to re-do lately that I went ahead and took a chance on this piece. I just stenciled it up, added a little chair and away it went.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: x-large;">I even decorated the side. It was an easy project and I was glad to have an extra piece to sell. Perfect for a teen girl's room.</span><br />

I am getting ready for the Little French Flea Market this weekend in Tarzana so I am churning out projects left and right. This was a simple pine dresser, probably was one of those unfinished pine type dressers.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: x-large;">I bought an inexpensive stencil from Wall Masque stencils on Etsy. It made the project so easy. I just painted the piece my usual white and then used a medium brown acrylic paint to do the lettering. It turned out so cute. I love it. Below is the before pic.</span><br />

Structurally she was in wonderful condition, but the finish was in need of a complete overhaul.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7v5KSjNgL7c1jP5Qoi0ufJe8QSzmLEzKB9NBqpkA3PuWj15vfMZmtub1L9arqaXBjv94h9DzuqJjh7FOnO6Exa89yTAiDs3W6JWVxfhCBI22NUvgKj4xNg5vzpccfOhaH3UhvVU0Q6yg/s1600/blog+mint+chip+1a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7v5KSjNgL7c1jP5Qoi0ufJe8QSzmLEzKB9NBqpkA3PuWj15vfMZmtub1L9arqaXBjv94h9DzuqJjh7FOnO6Exa89yTAiDs3W6JWVxfhCBI22NUvgKj4xNg5vzpccfOhaH3UhvVU0Q6yg/s1600/blog+mint+chip+1a.jpg" height="257" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I decided to use up my mint colored paint that I had used on a couple of previous projects. I distressed the final coat of paint to reveal her warm brown tones underneath. Hence, I am calling her mint chip.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: x-large;">The older furniture has such great detail. Look at those cute chubby little legs. Aren't they sweet?</span><br />

The headboard and the mirror are not pictured here, but this was a complete bedroom suite.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEievCbd6yAsJYmWM_cyqZK3Dipwzlv1feXVxwrImV3YtkoOUbYzsuuIJoWTKZkB9vmIIhX0xyr0vyBQF77vdvGv7y8gzyvIJPe8P_kOf6_IyWNNWLwf4UwQHAdCMHITzPwyIYUAbAEzGys/s1600/blog+aqua+set+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEievCbd6yAsJYmWM_cyqZK3Dipwzlv1feXVxwrImV3YtkoOUbYzsuuIJoWTKZkB9vmIIhX0xyr0vyBQF77vdvGv7y8gzyvIJPe8P_kOf6_IyWNNWLwf4UwQHAdCMHITzPwyIYUAbAEzGys/s1600/blog+aqua+set+4.JPG" height="640" width="504" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">The dresser is a full six feet long which is pretty darn big considering I usually stick to smaller scale pieces. I started with a very bright aqua paint on the base of each piece and painted the tops old white. I should say my husband painted. I watched.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCJkTiapbqlrGHgfOrHIz-T-K4YFLjpCf_FTdxnJfPIL0bIn4RONDwrpMulEyRzip158b_0ON1xRFa9TrPW6kvVj2_b8YghmtA8-sNRFNvEmRhqVCNnrNoRxNHvKNeH7GuEWXkT0wwFEo/s1600/blog+aqua+set+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCJkTiapbqlrGHgfOrHIz-T-K4YFLjpCf_FTdxnJfPIL0bIn4RONDwrpMulEyRzip158b_0ON1xRFa9TrPW6kvVj2_b8YghmtA8-sNRFNvEmRhqVCNnrNoRxNHvKNeH7GuEWXkT0wwFEo/s1600/blog+aqua+set+1.JPG" height="242" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Going into the fall and winter months I didn't want this set to look too spring time, so after my husband did his magic, I did a light distressing around the edges of the top and the drawers. Then I used a Minwax gel stain and glazed the whole piece. I never have great luck with the dark waxes, and I feel I have more control wiping a regular stain back to the level I want.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4p7ZwN0fzpvcraxHvHcKVJlIGqnuCQHCkzANTj5MB9EADeBmV_0xd2zMLNij2WHxIdSzYE8dOmSXRfzDA6COcf5eolqxhAvJMATq9L-1NeQwIFuA8_FBSxFIamiYFjvzMt3j29WrKZt8/s1600/blog+aqua+set+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4p7ZwN0fzpvcraxHvHcKVJlIGqnuCQHCkzANTj5MB9EADeBmV_0xd2zMLNij2WHxIdSzYE8dOmSXRfzDA6COcf5eolqxhAvJMATq9L-1NeQwIFuA8_FBSxFIamiYFjvzMt3j29WrKZt8/s1600/blog+aqua+set+2.JPG" height="320" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">When the glaze was finished and set up, we sprayed each piece with a heavy amount of clear coat spray to protect the finish. </span><span style="font-size: x-large;">The hardware was left in its natural state and I think it adds to the vintage feel of the set.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: x-large;">Here are all the drawers waiting to be cleaned up and painted. The set turned out great and it's already at the shop waiting for a new home.</span><br />

I have been away from blogging for awhile now. I took a fabulous vacation, and I'm ready to get back to work now.</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I found this adorable petite roll top desk at a flea market. It was an oak reproduction from the 80's and it needed a whole new makeover.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRj2TZIXFwL1-AJy_XPf65TK_oxHl7Zk54k0RUSFrQw5CW_y69hVfqV1m9Jv_gJvnKLsgGQy-lFFXNLuhSuciqPLLLHbSwQjx95LKmwQZjEg2eTENGpTPfXDEBzEdPAGryTphOSFOSxag/s1600/blog+roll+top+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRj2TZIXFwL1-AJy_XPf65TK_oxHl7Zk54k0RUSFrQw5CW_y69hVfqV1m9Jv_gJvnKLsgGQy-lFFXNLuhSuciqPLLLHbSwQjx95LKmwQZjEg2eTENGpTPfXDEBzEdPAGryTphOSFOSxag/s1600/blog+roll+top+1.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">It got a coat of my favorite white paint. I left the hardware and the brass rail on the back in their natural state.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEIKvGBC4J8BYXq4d_KJJbFeiR0x-TTdXAwvPWm-IRxZBxhtIXsoJFmwNS-40d9xVnHGl9CVsTZmEGkc0HYaTMsl6IbNtPbbr1tpQt8aCWpEm2hsstpWgqdtAkSCalj2Gq1DyKAOVL0SY/s1600/blog+roll+top+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEIKvGBC4J8BYXq4d_KJJbFeiR0x-TTdXAwvPWm-IRxZBxhtIXsoJFmwNS-40d9xVnHGl9CVsTZmEGkc0HYaTMsl6IbNtPbbr1tpQt8aCWpEm2hsstpWgqdtAkSCalj2Gq1DyKAOVL0SY/s1600/blog+roll+top+2.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">The hardware really popped against the white.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkuS7_ZrQyCP7uqzryhyvuy7HN9tcqLrDHLgowZRXSaUENH8ffUHLehYOXL20BkJtoyDctT0t9WCfuDK5xT7dTpbyYj0As_J4k8nyDf8HrFY82uCUFaxGGJVcWv98A5D9w0-gIGxXLC5s/s1600/blog+roll+top+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkuS7_ZrQyCP7uqzryhyvuy7HN9tcqLrDHLgowZRXSaUENH8ffUHLehYOXL20BkJtoyDctT0t9WCfuDK5xT7dTpbyYj0As_J4k8nyDf8HrFY82uCUFaxGGJVcWv98A5D9w0-gIGxXLC5s/s1600/blog+roll+top+3.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Here is the before picture. This piece was destined for the thrift shop for sure. The white paint really revived it and gave it a whole new life.</span><br />

</div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">This will be a quick post to show off my new design. I purchased this table from a friend. It was missing some of the decorative moulding. You can see the before picture below. My husband stripped the moulding from the edges and I went to Lowe's and purchased some inexpensive moulding to wrap around the top of the table.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKCaXh2-w_du2efM8rCWLCYExM1kD_QCgsKK9z66gF3IXXiDb-yDpZ4fAY_Zo9nV9iXVZVLlEYpRcFZFE6xdUDVRwGkSQ-D5HD_mYzrCtYxttsPMLHzTSCtTUle7ViSv_9p555jGTLdQ4/s1600/blog+Fleura+table+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKCaXh2-w_du2efM8rCWLCYExM1kD_QCgsKK9z66gF3IXXiDb-yDpZ4fAY_Zo9nV9iXVZVLlEYpRcFZFE6xdUDVRwGkSQ-D5HD_mYzrCtYxttsPMLHzTSCtTUle7ViSv_9p555jGTLdQ4/s1600/blog+Fleura+table+2.JPG" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I tried to trace on some typography, but I didn't like it so I used this Graphics Fairy French type image, but this time I used Picasa and converted the type to sepia tone. I thought the brown would be softer against the rose image I was using. Picasa is a free download photo editing program from Google and it's very easy to figure out.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUVRqpCFNa0yO1JWsidKyzydF8numeEFm88pYRSnCUONISa79nIF6Wb5lGwXyD2i0LWb861d2-v_cRPPiwiE7G7BCKTBPJ-Txhugpq52V9SVAEfXRZAQpD1a4F77EQHxOxhtD9EHXI6oI/s1600/blog+Fleura+table+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUVRqpCFNa0yO1JWsidKyzydF8numeEFm88pYRSnCUONISa79nIF6Wb5lGwXyD2i0LWb861d2-v_cRPPiwiE7G7BCKTBPJ-Txhugpq52V9SVAEfXRZAQpD1a4F77EQHxOxhtD9EHXI6oI/s1600/blog+Fleura+table+1.JPG" height="282" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">This rose image is to die for. I found it on Pinterest. I reversed the image and I also used the image in the normal view. When <a href="http://littlemissmaggie1.blogspot.com/2012/11/reverse-mod-podge-picture-tutorial.html" target="_blank">reverse mod podging</a> or normal decoupaging like this, you need both views of your image.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj23VHbiWCqym8gTmaclAx3NRhjKiB5tFCj0dN5FzcXGLxd1QTqD4xCht9-x0Nsj9r-KdiK02xKw1EncD68SAft12m6fU3dBxzGc6un0ym_HOQibIDD5G9ysRcxjeWKlbve74mOudAXLfA/s1600/blog+Fleura+table+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj23VHbiWCqym8gTmaclAx3NRhjKiB5tFCj0dN5FzcXGLxd1QTqD4xCht9-x0Nsj9r-KdiK02xKw1EncD68SAft12m6fU3dBxzGc6un0ym_HOQibIDD5G9ysRcxjeWKlbve74mOudAXLfA/s1600/blog+Fleura+table+3.JPG" height="400" width="355" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">This might be one of my favorite projects to date. In addition to needing new moulding, the drawers were also missing bottoms and had a lot of other issues. Once again, my husband saved the day and helped me give this wonderful piece a whole new life. The following photo is a before photo.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOno5gogMEMqwmzgF2Fbmpww6WkkdmM5ES9Zwa656Yyd7fOjEBvPx6f1Gee3nbhXTq0LLtfh4BeGDDmC5OLpSqciTswWgO0TKm26DSSwNf0sgP_IThFDGiPB457NUs-rAErN65S7BgTcY/s1600/DSC01804.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOno5gogMEMqwmzgF2Fbmpww6WkkdmM5ES9Zwa656Yyd7fOjEBvPx6f1Gee3nbhXTq0LLtfh4BeGDDmC5OLpSqciTswWgO0TKm26DSSwNf0sgP_IThFDGiPB457NUs-rAErN65S7BgTcY/s1600/DSC01804.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Here is the Graphics Fairy image. If you do a reverse mod podge transfer method, remember to reverse your image so the type comes out correctly and always use a laser image. Any local copy center has laser copiers.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's a cute iron based table with some sort of Masonite top that has stood up to the hot sun on our balcony for a year. Since the chairs are long gone, I decided to give this little piece a total makeover.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigmowYWMzHX7Y9MoVZivib1aj2PjKNWTcLoyypIwxaLN23nsFukzcvs7vUMtkFIDfe-aWBSRdqbKVRo2q9hO4IJ6uj334nD_7qSD-mnb-Qx8VjsNQW6O-Lr8L_aT1SvuLpwTmopeijems/s1600/blog+patio+table+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigmowYWMzHX7Y9MoVZivib1aj2PjKNWTcLoyypIwxaLN23nsFukzcvs7vUMtkFIDfe-aWBSRdqbKVRo2q9hO4IJ6uj334nD_7qSD-mnb-Qx8VjsNQW6O-Lr8L_aT1SvuLpwTmopeijems/s1600/blog+patio+table+1.JPG" height="400" width="365" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Her top was painted blue, a beautiful blue, much like the blue in the image I used. It's hard to put an image on a colored table top and get it to look right so I painted the table Old White. I went in and washed some light blue and light gray over the white to complement the image I was using.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJw81Wb-eH9yGQyizjYuPfMMPyfxMumTPMSDYhdAkXpuPPRWrfg6Rz4ku7jZExzebhiv3Em7Y9eDEScTdp50o9xgj_d8zl7A651dVVuxc-GavOX26PGjGQ7l1Pnupgk-wMP3t3iJ7IEyY/s1600/blog+patio+table+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJw81Wb-eH9yGQyizjYuPfMMPyfxMumTPMSDYhdAkXpuPPRWrfg6Rz4ku7jZExzebhiv3Em7Y9eDEScTdp50o9xgj_d8zl7A651dVVuxc-GavOX26PGjGQ7l1Pnupgk-wMP3t3iJ7IEyY/s1600/blog+patio+table+2.JPG" height="363" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">This is one of my all time favorite images. The original image was from the Graphics Fairy. It did not have the text. I actually purchased the image with the text on Etsy. Here is the link if you would like to order it. It's from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/153308064/large-digital-download-paris-ephemera?ref=favs_view_24" target="_blank">Cottage Rose Graphics</a>. It's only 3.95 and it's an instant download. I think it's gorgeous.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4bI-jk4eaozr7I9c99M9de6YnbPgL1p9Eq_NRE1h-lW47YKeprXVvP7vlAw4K6aLgiaLT0Y0UvQgWwJo6LpzToJgFWAqh-SnLu062ViglorqzJrGL5VaY_bFDHMnKWyawlll6yibkB8E/s1600/blog+patio+table+5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4bI-jk4eaozr7I9c99M9de6YnbPgL1p9Eq_NRE1h-lW47YKeprXVvP7vlAw4K6aLgiaLT0Y0UvQgWwJo6LpzToJgFWAqh-SnLu062ViglorqzJrGL5VaY_bFDHMnKWyawlll6yibkB8E/s1600/blog+patio+table+5.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Then I used one of my scrolly stencils and positioned it around the image. I stenciled it in white, a stark white, so that it would contrast with the light gray and blue wash. I wanted it to stand out.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixd3fNTIj9ULjwjpP28Hc9SvcujFHnt9s0KDT9qEYxkwCD51RVSueFaZm13al0Sc49xVHiy2AV2RA_4sbOgKP1VXB2TXDZjhjuGo4gw0IHpX4X5fgV1MCZiY5_vMOWCQp8KqW7nrhrYvg/s1600/blog+patio+table+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixd3fNTIj9ULjwjpP28Hc9SvcujFHnt9s0KDT9qEYxkwCD51RVSueFaZm13al0Sc49xVHiy2AV2RA_4sbOgKP1VXB2TXDZjhjuGo4gw0IHpX4X5fgV1MCZiY5_vMOWCQp8KqW7nrhrYvg/s1600/blog+patio+table+3.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I thought it was too much of a contrast so I placed the stencil right over the original stenciled image and stenciled it in a light tan to coordinate with the colors in my image. However, I was not careful to block out all the white. It was getting better to me, but I decided to layer a third color over the stenciled scroll and I chose a light gray. I love the result.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKuQHGXOgvLs-FaBe29TlRQ1CmrXKgsqOU9S2wGNJQuQDi0RpcLYdV5wmWYMmjVjPLh66ZXFe8BDpbYT_28KhbJml1_Ht3EeCzHeC_mUfS1dFqtZnRkek2ub5TPRD6lidbKxvVFyJDCDE/s1600/blog+patio+table+4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKuQHGXOgvLs-FaBe29TlRQ1CmrXKgsqOU9S2wGNJQuQDi0RpcLYdV5wmWYMmjVjPLh66ZXFe8BDpbYT_28KhbJml1_Ht3EeCzHeC_mUfS1dFqtZnRkek2ub5TPRD6lidbKxvVFyJDCDE/s1600/blog+patio+table+4.JPG" height="400" width="317" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">As with all my furniture projects, I did a <a href="http://littlemissmaggie1.blogspot.com/2012/11/reverse-mod-podge-picture-tutorial.html" target="_blank">reverse decoupage</a>, but you could decoupage the image in the normal way. This image looks fabulous on anything. Since this is technically a patio table, I used exterior Decoupage medium, and then I sealed the entire tabletop with Valspar clear coat satin. For this sweet little project I used three different colors and layered, layered, and layered some more.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizF9cXbnuUZau-Jspnm7VTKLvF553tmWfiEz3zX5uXvXvtszWemXHD_t-RYpOMWFSRkBbjO99xZF4VWvbXul7a_3M67irXwJfPvHAjzXeFO6ZKtfu2ThC_oA4jtQ6tazSJbxj9vf5JOPQ/s1600/blog+magazine+rack+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizF9cXbnuUZau-Jspnm7VTKLvF553tmWfiEz3zX5uXvXvtszWemXHD_t-RYpOMWFSRkBbjO99xZF4VWvbXul7a_3M67irXwJfPvHAjzXeFO6ZKtfu2ThC_oA4jtQ6tazSJbxj9vf5JOPQ/s1600/blog+magazine+rack+1.JPG" height="640" width="480" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I always use the reverse mod podge method to apply my images because they come out a little more vintage looking and look more hand painted, but this image could be easily mod podged in the usual way.</span><br />

I'm experimenting with watercolor effects and combining them with my <a href="http://littlemissmaggie1.blogspot.com/2012/11/reverse-mod-podge-picture-tutorial.html" target="_blank">reverse mod podge</a> and stenciling projects. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXYTF9hJIvpDV7JlTdEXHfYEoXW_aqldtR9l5efByY86daY18oRqqfEGwO9ZouNzV8aRtoQS2-FrUr3-S5AFjvIOy_moh7Z9wljXdM0S8BMEStaN6lO6TcuK3bvGEy14cuoCFVUaUzuS8/s1600/blog+vanity+table+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXYTF9hJIvpDV7JlTdEXHfYEoXW_aqldtR9l5efByY86daY18oRqqfEGwO9ZouNzV8aRtoQS2-FrUr3-S5AFjvIOy_moh7Z9wljXdM0S8BMEStaN6lO6TcuK3bvGEy14cuoCFVUaUzuS8/s1600/blog+vanity+table+3.JPG" height="322" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">This table was my first such attempt. I started with a base coat of Old White. This is a fabulous vintage table that could be used as a sofa table, a vanity or just a sweet little accent table, and it could be used just about anywhere. I selected a beautiful 18th century painting that I found on Pinterest. It's on my Pinterest art board if you would like to save it to one of your boards.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsIdoXg92Eos_fvxw3NC-b0ijAp_EEaLd7PCbKx-IJOB0akHa3iWzrAyXP9jaJQLLFVH54uXy8ggjG6oiLcZEYKdBUaTLD5Jqu8NsLWih5Nyw_eLSBw5LPs7XC76nlm11e30pggn5tAgM/s1600/blog+vanity+table+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsIdoXg92Eos_fvxw3NC-b0ijAp_EEaLd7PCbKx-IJOB0akHa3iWzrAyXP9jaJQLLFVH54uXy8ggjG6oiLcZEYKdBUaTLD5Jqu8NsLWih5Nyw_eLSBw5LPs7XC76nlm11e30pggn5tAgM/s1600/blog+vanity+table+1.JPG" height="420" width="640" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I also copied a beautiful Anna Griffin file folder and cut out her rose pattern to use around the edges of this piece. Then I used two acrylic paints and watered them down and applied them randomly on the table top. I chose two complementary colors that went with my image. When the paint dried, I used one of my favorite scrolly stencils and applied it randomly on the table top. This gorgeous stencil is from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/100633593/floral-scroll-10-x-89-beautiful-and?ref=shop_home_active_24" target="_blank">Wall Masque Stencils</a>. I found it on Etsy. This is a very layered effect just like the old Florentine tables my mother had when I was a child.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyoPYbt5en8CGur-R5soSC2Rr4OgxTc6_Dynu1nZnSSJo6RxE3ilhRJAwww288RZYrly5KBvs2kZMJGFQXzOzIzASVi-ZMFAnkZnORumNiOh_AmmI2jEgkUJZZ4RoHU8Byw1vpPmKg3zU/s1600/blog+vanity+table+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyoPYbt5en8CGur-R5soSC2Rr4OgxTc6_Dynu1nZnSSJo6RxE3ilhRJAwww288RZYrly5KBvs2kZMJGFQXzOzIzASVi-ZMFAnkZnORumNiOh_AmmI2jEgkUJZZ4RoHU8Byw1vpPmKg3zU/s1600/blog+vanity+table+2.JPG" height="640" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">To complete the look, I applied the water colors to the legs and the apron of the table. </span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-large;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I also completed another little accent table this week by literally cutting and pasting a rose swag on another beautiful piece of art I found on Pinterest and a lovely piece of typography that I embellished with more cut out roses. Once I applied these images to my table top, I used one of my new French poem stencils by <a href="https://decoart.com/chalkyfinish/stencils" target="_blank">DecoArt</a>. Our Joann's is not carrying these beautiful stencils yet, but I ordered mine from Home Depot on line. The shipping was free and the stencils are a steal at 6.98 each.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="font-size: x-large;">This was another simple project.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's a heavily carved piece and it had a marble insert that was cracked. I had my husband paint the whole piece with my favorite Old White.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXsmWPiYd4nGNV7YwMrUBZWSK75ZZic6HTzUhisksAJjyc5wXfOutNes9MDvbFxyzo9BLi4mpVPvDId9AHSdnUtIp8R0XZ23TgnTR3i5_q12TFoKjwyvW7dI4tsVAJ6-u5Oi9XIIjzU-k/s1600/blog+perfume+label+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXsmWPiYd4nGNV7YwMrUBZWSK75ZZic6HTzUhisksAJjyc5wXfOutNes9MDvbFxyzo9BLi4mpVPvDId9AHSdnUtIp8R0XZ23TgnTR3i5_q12TFoKjwyvW7dI4tsVAJ6-u5Oi9XIIjzU-k/s1600/blog+perfume+label+2.JPG" height="292" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I used a Graphics Fairy image of an old French label. I opted for the image without the writing and I kind of wished I had used the full label image, but I'm still happy with the end result.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibyebUJuarzA4wDLY913uaQGmhoVw10VFszyEYGAWrtWZGmVma3k45ipqhQ9tdPjydtl1SjTlwU8_q6yHQyisWHO5WeQsfeVhYtijecG8EtKQvipnLBdWEuWgke8XqV_o8gajElBLGFdA/s1600/blog+perfume+label+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibyebUJuarzA4wDLY913uaQGmhoVw10VFszyEYGAWrtWZGmVma3k45ipqhQ9tdPjydtl1SjTlwU8_q6yHQyisWHO5WeQsfeVhYtijecG8EtKQvipnLBdWEuWgke8XqV_o8gajElBLGFdA/s1600/blog+perfume+label+3.JPG" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">I have a real fondness for heavily carved pieces so I couldn't pass this one up.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbN7KZ6_CCOU5JXtWd-zywW29Drz3OioiWRo-4TJfc5ywJf9kFq3ku_P5PXLknL0DqTMzIAvo6VAtnTinwIp1HJm53LT0CTmwx5MlsL-j8514PoXlW6YaSwBl7XJXaPI58uGE1SnkdVdo/s1600/blog+perfume+lable+1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbN7KZ6_CCOU5JXtWd-zywW29Drz3OioiWRo-4TJfc5ywJf9kFq3ku_P5PXLknL0DqTMzIAvo6VAtnTinwIp1HJm53LT0CTmwx5MlsL-j8514PoXlW6YaSwBl7XJXaPI58uGE1SnkdVdo/s1600/blog+perfume+lable+1.JPG" height="400" width="357" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Although I had some flaws in the application of the label to the table, that was still okay. I do like everything to have a time worn look.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEXnqVQkr_X9fShj6K2mG23Q10PGdKZEA1AMxzYzimVFa0MHfXWQ2Z5H3hi9yez_Ny85aHC7s19znm235nTdBGCCZ6OQZcZvOXwuxqDBXh27UBdFOqKqiNZwv-tgImYQ4nuWiSivFJKvw/s1600/blog+perfume+label+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEXnqVQkr_X9fShj6K2mG23Q10PGdKZEA1AMxzYzimVFa0MHfXWQ2Z5H3hi9yez_Ny85aHC7s19znm235nTdBGCCZ6OQZcZvOXwuxqDBXh27UBdFOqKqiNZwv-tgImYQ4nuWiSivFJKvw/s1600/blog+perfume+label+2.JPG" height="292" width="400" /></a></div>
<span style="font-size: x-large;">Here is a close up. It doesn't bother me that some of the transfer rubbed off. This piece still has a lot of charm.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
