French Gray Vanity Stool

I wish I had the before pics of this vanity stool, but I've had it for over a year.  It had the original wood finish and no seat.  So I let a student re-do the seat with a piece of foam I already had on hand.  The foam is a little too high, but I still love this little stool.

I added the applique and painted the whole thing primer gray and sent it off with the student to re-do as a classroom project.  I got it back and have just now decided to finish the project.

This little piece has the most gorgeous legs, doesn't she?  My friend, Miss Flibbertigibbet, did a recent post on how to do a faux zinc finish.  That was the inspiration I was waiting for.  I went over my gray primer with gesso and wiped it back.  Then I came in with my Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue and just dry brushed the painted surfaces.  After that, I came back with a light coat of dark wax.  To see the exact instructions for the faux zinc finish from Miss Flibbertigibbet click here.

I'm a sucker for anything with carved details and this little gal reeled me in hook, line and sinker.  Below you can see what she looked like with just the gray primer.  She really needed something to accentuate her beauty and curves, don't you think?

Thanks so much for visiting.  I love it when you stop by.

This turned out great! The extra height on the seat looks plump and cozy and paint finish is fantastic with the curvy legs.

Very pretty Miss Maggie! I kind of like the thick padding. It makes it seem a little like a tuffet!
