Again, I didn't have the time or the inclination to start running from store to store to find something that inspired me. So upon browsing around, I found these fabulous bowls. Aren't they gorgeous? They only had two, but that's really all I needed to put this look together, and besides the bowls are the perfect size for my winter soups.
Everything else I already had, but these bowls really were the inspiration I needed. Now I told you I was looking for table linens and I found none, and you may think my idea is cheesy, but once again I was smitten with yet another role of wrapping paper to use as a table runner. Isn't this also gorgeous? No different than using paper place mats; right? It makes a stunning backdrop to my table setting, it's economical, and, better yet, no washing or ironing needed.
I only wish I had photographed the sides of the bowls for you. You can catch a little glimpse of them in my next photo. Now, as we junk'n girls go, you'll notice I had to substitute my pretty silver flea market spoons for a black spoon. Reason being, I only shop at fine establishments like the local yard sales and the fleas, and these cute black utensils were missing the spoons. What's a girl to do besides improvise?
Sometimes we need to think outside the box to find our inspiration and that's what this table setting is about. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm on my way to Home Goods, tomorrow! That's just beautiful and I love the bird bowls. Lynda
Beautiful Maggie! What a great find those are so pretty! Love that table cloth too! Oh I need to stay out of those stores! I can never leave empty handed LOL!

these are wonderful, love the birdies. we have no Home Goods around here...bummer!
I love those bowls- I would have snapped them up, too. They look great with your paper runner (great idea by the way). I love the peek at the side of the bowl, too. xo Diana
Oh Maggie, it's perfect!! I learn so much from looking at tablescapes! I think if the table is great they will over look my crummy food! Yep, it's all in the packaging!

I just love the black with the yellow and the cute shape of the yellow. I love setting a nice table every night with cloth napkins and tablecloths. My husband makes me wonderful gourmet meals so I feel I need to put as much effort in the place setting.
Thanks for some inspiration.
You're right the bowls are wonderful! It looks a little like the outside is yellow with the black - or is that a reflection of the yellow plate? Either way they are perfect, and the place setting is breathtaking.
Wow! Your tablescapes are always perfect. Oh, how I wish I had your talent for display. I put a beautiful crocheted vintage tablecloth on my round table and I thought, "What do I do now?" I wish I had a centerpiece. Now I'm wishing I had some dishes! Beautiful post!
Very pretty!! I love the colors!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Very pretty...the flowers are so beautiful...love your birdies too :)
Very pretty, Maggie! Love the color scheme. Those bowls look very pretty; I can see the sides a bit in that one picture. I've been disappointed at Home Goods in my recent trips, too.
What a beautiful tablescape, love the black and white with the touch of yellow and the bird bowls are stunning. So pretty. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
You are so clever Maggie! I adore your beautiful tablescape.
Very sweet!!! Love the bowl with the yellow and birds!!1
WOW! I really really ♥ your birdie bowls!!!!
And using wrapping paper as a runner? It's absolutely brilliant.
I love this. I wish Home Goods was near me.
This is so nice! I definitely want to do a black, white and yellow theme very soon. This looks really beautiful! =)
Beautiful Maggie. I love anything with birds on it. You put together a wonderful table setting.
Your table setting is so pretty, and I love birds. The black and yellow combination adds a special touch and is just right for the new year. Home Goods is one of my favorite shops, and I just went there yesterday.
