The Graphics Fairy posted this graphic a few weeks ago and I knew I could create something beautiful with it. I found this flower can at a yard sale. It was from one of the discount stores and it had a palm tree on it. I painted the can with Annie Sloan Old White and applied my graphic using the reverse mod podge method. You can find the tutorial here. I left some of the blue border around the image instead of trimming right to the edge because I liked the complementary blue color to the pink roses. I trimmed out the detail of the can with some blue craft paint that was close to the blue in the graphic and then trimmed further with Modern Masters gold paint. This is the best gold paint I have found.
I then waxed the can with Annie Sloan dark wax and clear wax to age it a little bit and I still didn't think it was complete so I used one of my Martha Stewart stencils and stenciled the word Rose with more of the gold paint.
It's not hand painted, but I'm still very happy with the way it came out. It's romantic and pretty and I love the graphic and was thrilled that I found a place to use it. Let me just add that I get a lot of comments asking for product information and techniques and they are coming from no reply bloggers. Maggie, I love it!! I had not seen that graphic, I am off to look for it. I always feel so bad too when someone asks a question and they don't have a blog or email address, I am afraid they will think I am a butt for not answering...i wonder how they think we are supposed to reach them?
Carol
oh that is beautiful!!!!
Gorgeous! And your flowers are the perfect complement to the pail.
Lovely! The colors do compliment it perfectly. Always love fresh flowers too!
Maggie, How pretty. The blue makes it pop. Smiles to you, Susie
Hi Maggie, I love your rose sap bucket. The addition of the stencil really brings charm to the pretty graphic. Lovely.
Happy Creating, Celestina Marie
How pretty! I have never tried the reverse mod podge method. I think I should! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love your can. The graphic is so pretty, the white with the roses is very striking. I have a couple cans similar to yours so now know what I'll use them for.
When I find things I want to use I keep them til the project comes along that feels right for the item. I can modpodge something ok. Then make sure the graphic will last. Love how you made it look old. You have sure inspired me. Thanks for sharing a great post. Happy Days
Maggie es precioso y muy romántico.

Your painted pail is beautiful. I am afraid I missed out on the artist skills! Nancy

That is just so pretty!
this is amazing and looks handpainted for sure! I want to find those MS cursive stencils. Did they come from Michael's?
That is just beautiful. I am like you and I spend way too much time on pinterest but it really is a great place for inspiration. Thank you for sharing and enjoy your lovely roses.
