I can't believe I didn't take a before picture of this bucket, but it was a plain old galvanized oblong bucket that came from Home Goods or one of the discount stores. It's about 20 inches long and it would be great for filling with ice and sodas for a party. I can even envision it packed with towels and bubble bath containers or wines and crackers and wrapped with cellophane for a gift bucket.
This project was Pinterest inspired. I saw one similar to it and had to copy it when I found this piece at a local sale. The graphic is from the Graphics Fairy. First I gave the bucket one coat of Rustoleum Heirloom White spray just to waterproof it. Then I went over it with Annie Sloan's Old White. Next I did a reverse mod podge transfer method. Yes, it works on metal too. You can find the transfer method here. When that was completed, I went back with a small paint brush and painted the black border with acrylic craft paint. I'll seal it with a clear spray to set the image and the paint and make it permanent.
In the meantime, I confess that I am a floralholic and while I love the simplicity of this look, I felt compelled to do a reverse mod podge of a Catherine Klein rose. If it comes out the way I hope it will, I will share it with you this week. I'm really liking the great typography graphics that are out there these days combined with the beautiful floral graphics so we'll see what transpires.
As always, thanks for visiting.

Maggie, This is gorgeous! I'm inspired to try the transfer method on a smaller, champagne size bucket.
Looks great! It would make a wonderful gift basket!
Karen
Really spectacular! It would make a beautiful planter ... but will look great no matter what it holds!

That looks great, Maggie! Love the black and white look to it. Lots of great ideas for it, too.
Oh my word, I totally love this piece, what a fun idea. I definitley need to copy this. Thanks tons for the info and I also read how to do the transfer. Thanks. Hugs, Marty
I love this! I'm thinking a smaller version might be great in my black and white bedroom I'm planning. Pinning it to try! Great project girl!
Love the black and white of course! Very very cute. It will sell fast!
Maggie, I've come to your blog through a link party at another. You do amazing things! Am loving all your great ideas. And so professional looking! I have a question on the painted galvanized tub. You said you sprayed it first with Rustoleum, then went over it with Annie Sloan. Since chalk paint is water based, and I know you can distress with a damp sponge, won't the paint come off the tub when it gets wet ? Please tell me how it works. I'm at soriano471@sbcglobal.net. Thank you so much ! patty soriano
