Little Birdie Tablescape

It's been a while since I have done my weekly tablescape.  First it was all the holiday madness and then it was the wind and then the cold and I guess one of the main reasons was I wasn't feeling inspired by anything I had on hand.  So Saturday I ventured out to our new Home Goods which may be a curse instead of a blessing to find some new and up to date table linens.  What did I find?  Nada, zilch, nothing.
Again, I didn't have the time or the inclination to start running from store to store to find something that inspired me.  So upon browsing around, I found these fabulous bowls.  Aren't they gorgeous?  They only had two, but that's really all I needed to put this look together, and besides the bowls are the perfect size for my winter soups.
Everything else I already had, but these bowls really were the inspiration I needed.  Now I told you I was looking for table linens and I found none, and you may think my idea is cheesy, but once again I was smitten with yet another role of wrapping paper to use as a table runner.  Isn't this also gorgeous?  No different than using paper place mats; right?  It makes a stunning backdrop to my table setting, it's economical, and, better yet, no washing or ironing needed.
I only wish I had photographed the sides of the bowls for you.  You can catch a little glimpse of them in my next photo.  Now, as we junk'n girls go, you'll notice I had to substitute my pretty silver flea market spoons for a black spoon.  Reason being, I only shop at fine establishments like the local yard sales and the fleas, and these cute black utensils were missing the spoons.  What's a girl to do besides improvise?
Sometimes we need to think outside the box to find our inspiration and that's what this table setting is about.  Thanks for stopping by.

Oh Maggie, it's perfect!! I learn so much from looking at tablescapes! I think if the table is great they will over look my crummy food! Yep, it's all in the packaging!

I just love the black with the yellow and the cute shape of the yellow. I love setting a nice table every night with cloth napkins and tablecloths. My husband makes me wonderful gourmet meals so I feel I need to put as much effort in the place setting.

Thanks for some inspiration.

You're right the bowls are wonderful! It looks a little like the outside is yellow with the black - or is that a reflection of the yellow plate? Either way they are perfect, and the place setting is breathtaking.

Wow! Your tablescapes are always perfect. Oh, how I wish I had your talent for display. I put a beautiful crocheted vintage tablecloth on my round table and I thought, "What do I do now?" I wish I had a centerpiece. Now I'm wishing I had some dishes! Beautiful post!

Very pretty, Maggie! Love the color scheme. Those bowls look very pretty; I can see the sides a bit in that one picture. I've been disappointed at Home Goods in my recent trips, too.

Your table setting is so pretty, and I love birds. The black and yellow combination adds a special touch and is just right for the new year. Home Goods is one of my favorite shops, and I just went there yesterday.
