One of my favorite colors this year for home decor is aqua. It goes with so many colors you wouldn't even consider such as red, pink and gold. I found these frames at a flea market. They were both painted gold. The one with the triple panes was missing some of the molding pieces so rather than try to recreate the missing pieces, I removed what was remaining. It left the frame a little rough and uneven in some places.
I painted the frames with an aqua paint I already had on hand and since both frames had some rough patches, I took my sander and gave them both a heavy sanding, thus exposing the gold and the wood beneath.
What was left behind was a perfect primitive appearance. I love this triple frame. It can even be used as a door crown to add a little interest to an otherwise plain area. I left the wire behind the other frame. I can just picture notes and photographs clothes pinned onto the wire thus creating the perfect message board.
Thanks for stopping by. I have a lot of projects started but nothing is finished yet. Hopefully I will make some progress this week and have more to share soon.

A Beautiful color...
ReplyDeleteMaggie me encantan esos marcos y el color es precioso.
ReplyDeletebesos.
It's not just the color...the 3 hole frame is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty color, Maggie! Love how you sanded it to expose the gold underneath.
ReplyDeleteI've got to get some paint in that color to paint a kitschy towel rack. Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove your gorgeous frames, Maggie! Aqua is one of my favorite colors! The glass knobs and pretty trim are perfection! Oh, and I love all of the distressing, too!
ReplyDeleteI love the frames Maggie. The sanding gives them that extra special touch.
ReplyDeleteLove the color. The triple frame looks like an old window. I love it. When we first moved into this house in 2006 I started doing our bedroom in turquoise and brown (or aqua). I gave up on it when I found my b/w duvet at Anthro. Seeing your stuff makes me wish I hadn't given up on the old color scheme!
ReplyDeleteLooking good, Maggie- I love the color- I have lots of "starts", too. I need to get some "finishes" in now- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteIt seems aqua is one of the new neutrals, love it, always have. To me it speaks of clean, soft, beachy. Love your 3 pane frame, awesome, the aqua really sets if off and the way you sanded it. I'd so love to find one like that.
ReplyDeleteI tend to gravitate for the aqua every time I look at paint colors.
I have some of the glass knobs, need to see about putting them on something. Have white enamel and brass also. What am I waiting for, time to use them. Happy Valentines day.
Today on my way to get groceries I saw a falling down barn of a greenish aqua color, but perched against a tree was the intact set of two sliding barn doors. Yes I am thinking of stopping to ask about them.

LOVE these, and I adore the distressing and the beautiful knobs you used. I painted my new craft room in our new (old) house this color and I just love it, it's not my normal wall color!! I could have windows on every wall of my house...no I take that back, I'd have to have a door or two hanging somewhere as well! Why can't I happen upon windows or doors... Hope you're having a Happy Valentines Day!
