Today I planned a patriotic tablescape with a bit of sunny yellow. I love the old vintage tablecloths, and as I was preparing this one to go to the shop, I noticed it was full of patriotic primary colors so I decided to use it for today's vignette. The flowers are Gerbera daisies, sunflowers and beautiful blue hydrangeas. I added a couple of small vintage flags I had picked up at last week's flea market. They were perfect for the upcoming holidays.
This tablescape is pretty simple. The tablecloth speaks a thousand words all by itself. The plaster cat lives on my front porch all the time. It is a beautiful specimen of Americana. He's tucked in amongst the plants peaking out into the yard.
My only patterned china on this table is the Old Glory plates which were ironically made in Italy. I'm sort of an odd duck when it comes to my everyday dishes. If I like a dessert plate and I find a couple at a time, I add it to the pile. We take from the pile every day. Now, I have friends where everything has to match, but I am not one of those people. I never know what will be the next plate in the pile so it's always a surprise to me. I do the same thing with my bowls. This red silverware belongs to my daughter. She just let's me borrow it.
Notice the napkin rings? They are watermelon slices. Totally a summer item.
Thanks for visiting. Hope you are all having a happy and safe holiday weekend.
